Cryonics Life Insurance – A second chance at life

Just over eleven years ago I agreed to an interview with a journalist with the Guardian newspaper about the world of Cryonics and in particular Cryonics and Insurance.

This was just ahead of the Cryonics Roadshow that was held at Rowland Brother Funeral directors in London and they were keen to explore the world of Cryonics for the benefit of their readers.

The interview at the time was ground breaking in regards to insurance and financial services because up until that moment many of the news articles in the press had been quite derogatory towards the Cryonics Community.

Here are some lines from the original article – “Cryonics: The People Hoping To Give Death The Cold Shoulder”

“Scores of brits have signed up for what the movement has dubbed “a second chance at life”.

“Many people think cryonics is just for the wealthy, but with life insurance it is affordable for people on a modest income, especially if they start the policy when they are young”.

And some of Chris Morgan’s quotes revisited …

“Unusual Risks generally recommends “Whole of Life” cover, which is designed to provide a guaranteed payout on death”

“The insurance was to be written in a certain way because there needs to be a mechanism in place so the cryonics provider  knows it is definitely going to get it’s money”.

“It is best to use an insurer that provides an absolute trust document, where the beneficiary – cryonics company is named, and this cannot be changed, he adds. “They need to be absolutely certain they are going to be paid for the services they are providing”.
