Cryonics & Insurance – Frequently Asked Questions & Answers – Part 1

In the build up to the next Cryonics UK meeting, we will be publishing some of the “real life” questions that we receive from people looking to take out Life Insurance for funding Cryonics. Anyone attending the meeting on Saturday 13th January 2018 in Sheffield are welcome to bring questions to the meeting for Chris Morgan to answer, or email to him ahead of the meeting.

Home Equity

Q) I’m considering taking a mortgage and have no children to inherit the capital from any home purchase. Could any equity be recruited to meet any Cryonics Institute or Alcor membership fees? and placed into a trust for them to receive as a beneficiary.

A) It’s highly unlikely that either Cryonics Institute or Alcor will accept property equity as a method of payment for their membership fees, as all fees have to be paid before they accept any body for suspension. As property forms part of an estate and has to be sold by the estate, potentially this could slow down the Cryonics process and mean your objectives will not be met.

Time To Sign

Q) What are the benefits of signing up now (I am 30 years old) rather than in my 40s, 50s and beyond? Other than obviously not being covered until I take out cover, but lets presume I live until at least my 50s or 60s. What would be the advantage of signing up now?

A) Simply, lower premiums and a reduced long term overall cost for your Cryonics membership. Whole of Life Cover is by far the cheapest way of paying for cryonics, especially if you have few pre-existing medical conditions. The more medical conditions you accumulate over time, the higher the premiums are likely to be for Life insurance.

Obtaining Quotes

Q)  What information do you need from me to be able to get an accurate quotation for premiums? I have a rough estimate but would like something more accurate before deciding to proceed.

A) In order to produce with an accurate quotation we normally have to go through a short telephone meeting, so we can explain all of the implications of taking insurance for Cryonics and gather detail about your requirements. We are very happy to produce quotations without obligation, so contact us to make an appointment today.
