Recently our lead financial adviser Chris Morgan attended the Cryonics UK meeting in Sheffield and updated the group on recent developments around Cryonics and Insurance in the UK. Cryonics UK is a non-profit organisation set in place to provide assistance when necessary to those within the UK who wish for their body to be cryopreserved with either Alcor or The Cryonics Institute.
These are some useful key points from Chris’s presentation …
* 90% of Cryonics people are either funding or intending to fund their Cryonics agreements using some form of Life Insurance.
* 10% of cryonics people are intending to use cash or some other form of investment.
* The average amount of insurance taken for the purpose of Cryonics is currently £109,461
* The lowest amount of insurance recorded was £60,000 and highest recorded £270,000 for the purpose of cryonics.
*33% of UK Insurance providers currently offer an absolute trust, alongside their insurance policies, making them suitable for funding Cryonics.
Chris also let the group know that he’s still looking at International Insurance providers, that may be able to offer insurance cover to cryonics members abroad, but to date has not found a suitable provider. Before leaving Chris answered questions within a group Q&A session and agreed to return and present to the group again in the future.
Anyone in the UK looking at cryonics should consider going along to a Cryonics UK training meeting. Forthcoming dates for their training events can be found at their website. www.cryonics-uk.org/training.html
